German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund and their long-serving captain Marco Reus will part ways in the summer.
Reus, an iconic figure for BVB, has forged an exceptional bond with the club over the past 12 seasons. However, that bond will come to an end when the current campaign concludes.
BVB sporting director Michael Zorc confirmed Reus's departure, acknowledging that the player's decision to leave was a "difficult moment" for the club.
The 32-year-old forward has been a key member of Dortmund's squad, making over 350 appearances and scoring 156 goals. Reus has also played a significant role in the club's recent successes, including winning the German Cup in 2017 and 2021.
Reus's departure will leave a significant void in the Dortmund team, and his future destination remains uncertain. Speculation suggests that he could join MLS side Charlotte, who are reportedly eager to acquire his services.
