Jake Paul: Conor McGregor Isn't Fighting Due to UFC Leverage

Paul Blasts McGregor's 'Excuses'

Jake Paul has once again taken aim at Conor McGregor, this time accusing the Irishman of avoiding a fight due to the UFC's desire for leverage in a billion-dollar rights deal.

McGregor's 'Excuses'

In a recent interview, McGregor claimed Paul was "a nobody" and "not a real fighter." Paul responded by calling McGregor's comments "excuses" and accusing him of being afraid to fight.

"He's just making excuses," Paul said. "He knows he can't beat me. That's why he's not fighting me."

UFC's Leverage

Paul also suggested the UFC is pressuring McGregor not to fight him, as they fear it would damage their negotiating position in the upcoming rights deal. The UFC's current deal with ESPN expires in 2025, and the company is reportedly seeking a significant increase in its annual rights fee.

"The UFC is using McGregor as a pawn," Paul said. "They know that if he fights me and loses, it will hurt their leverage in the negotiations."

Paul's Challenge

Paul has repeatedly challenged McGregor to a fight, but the Irishman has yet to accept. Paul has offered to fight McGregor in the UFC, in boxing, or even in a street fight.

"I'll fight him anywhere, anytime," Paul said. "He's just too scared to face me."

McGregor's Silence

McGregor has not publicly responded to Paul's latest comments. The Irishman has been inactive since suffering a leg injury in July 2021. He is expected to return to the UFC later this year.
