Lando Norris Shatters Max Verstappen's Trophy at the Hungarian Grand Prix

Norris Knocks Verstappen's Trophy off the Podium

In an unfortunate turn of events at the Hungarian Grand Prix, McLaren driver Lando Norris accidentally knocked over and broke Max Verstappen's winners trophy during the post-race celebrations. The trophy, a porcelain jug regarded as one of the most beautiful in Formula 1, was badly damaged in the incident.

Update on the Fate of the Smashed Trophy

Following the incident, McLaren issued a statement expressing regret and apologizing to Red Bull and Verstappen. Norris also personally apologized to Verstappen and promised to pay for a replacement trophy.

The team has been in contact with the manufacturer of the trophy to explore the possibility of repairing or replacing it. However, due to the delicate nature of the porcelain, it is unclear whether the trophy can be fully restored.

Verstappen's Reaction to the Incident

Verstappen initially expressed disappointment and frustration at the incident, but he later displayed a sense of humor by posting a photo on social media of Norris holding the shattered pieces of the trophy.

Despite the broken trophy, Verstappen still celebrated his victory, which marked his eighth win of the 2023 Formula 1 season. He remains the championship leader with a significant lead over his rivals.
